Soak and boil a cup of toor dal with veggies and spices: I used half an onion, 2 green chillies, 1 tomato, half a zucchini, half an eggplant and a bit of pumpkin. I added a teaspoon of cumin seeds, half a teaspoon of turmeric and a teaspoon of salt. Simmer for an hour and blend. Add lots of fresh lemon juice or tamarind to taste plus fresh coriander or greens.
