Basil Pesto ? Bountiful basil plants and garlic in the garden calls for the making of pesto. Loosely followed Ina Garten's recipe⬇️ using walnuts and pecans instead of pine nuts. Some will be frozen for a taste of summer in the winter. The rest will be gobbled up by my pesto-loving husband. Enjoy!

How long will it freeze? How much space do you leave in the top of the jar?

What gets made and frozen in the summer is eaten in the winter, so about 6 months. Leave about an inch top space. I usually freeze it in smaller, more manageable containers.

Do you just jar it or can it? Does it keep in the fridge?

I just jar it. A couple go in the fridge. As used, top off with more oil to preserve freshness. I've found pesto freezes beautifully.
