Finally bucked up and cooked Ahi Tuna at home. I don't know why I've always been scared of cooking "nicer" fish at home, but I regret that I just am now attempting it! I could've been saving so much money!
Grate garlic and ginger (about a teaspoon of each), slice 1 small jalapeño, and juice 2 limes into a bowl. Add in 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 2 teaspoons of sesame oil, 2 teaspoons of honey, and 1 tablespoon olive oil. Add ground pepper to taste. Mix well and set aside.
Heat a little olive oil (or sesame oil if you want) in the skillet, then sear tuna steaks for barely one minute on each side. Add half of sauce to pan and turn fish quickly to coat in sauce (no more than 5-10 seconds a side. Serve over rice and top with sliced avocado. Pour remaining sauce in on to thicken for 30 seconds or so, then pour over tuna steak.
