Fridge clear-out winter soup/panade-like beast: Chicken stock made the other day... put in pot. Added carrots, baby spuds, chard, mung beans, few spoonfulls of carrot top pesto ... while it's bubbling away set steamer over it with cubed half butternut squash found lurking in produce bin. Attack the rock hard loaf of baguette with a knife, sauté in much olive oil with a few sliced garlic cloves. Add a splash of apple cider vinegar to soup let it sit a bit......Soup goes in bowl, chopped squash in there, the croutons.. hey I have rosemary from my walk a few weeks ago ! Chuck in a few spines, grate sharp cheddar over it, and let it sit while texting friend and admiring pics of her new cross-eyed baby cat, Peepers. By the time you eat it's like some weird parade-ribbolita mess from the gods. You too can do this.
