Fresh hot tortillas.
Mix unbleached flour, baking powder and salt. Add half butter and half shortening and use your fingers to work the fat into the flour. Add hot water and mix with a fork until it's a shaggy mass. Knead lightly until it comes together. Divide the dough into small pieces and let rest at least 30 minutes.
I used a tortilla press, but you can roll the dough out to about 8". Fry the tortillas, in a dry skillet about 30 seconds on each side. Wrap them in a clean cloth to keep them pliable. Enjoy.
