Okay, well I have done this twice now, just to make sure that it wasn't just my inability to cook or something. First time with thighs, second time with breasts, first time with sesame oil, second time without (i have realized I can't stand sesame oil) and gotta say... both times I'm not impressed. There is nothing special with the chicken, the coating is simple and unseasoned, the marinate does nothing, and the key player in this, the scallion cream sauce... that's plain. It's literally just scallions in sour cream. The cheese is not even noticeable. And all it is, is mixed together. As per recipe, it doesn't even have time to sit so you could get the same effect by putting a dollop of sour cream on your chicken and sprinkling it with scallions.

I really want to love this, I love the concept. I may play with it on my own and find out something that'll work. Maybe cream cheese/sour cream/scallion stuffed, parmesan crusted chicken breast, but this as it is? Meh. Now that isn't to say it's bad, it's just too one tone for my tastes. Some people may really love it. Worth a shot if you really like scallions.

I'm gonna try this this weekend. I'm gonna modify it slightly. Thighs taste a million times better and are more commonly used in Asian dishes I've noticed so I'm using those. And I'll likely just pan fry them in some oil instead of deep frying. I'll also likely make double the sauce and let it sit in the fridge as the chicken marinades so the flavors meld together.
