The Perfect Brownie Recipe to Keep on Hand for Last Minute Gifts

Author Notes: You have just made it through four of the biggest holidays in the calendar year. The good news is you survived, but maybe just barely! How many people did you forget to buy a gift for at Christmas and then, how many Valentine’s Day gifts and Easter baskets did you forget? Remember, it isn’t only children who expect a gift on these big days and while you wouldn’t necessarily give anything away on New Year’s, in some cultures it’s traditional to do so.
Find Your Inspiration from Food and Beverage Industry Trends
Why not share some of your favorite recipes to keep on hand for those last-minute gifts you forgot to add to your shopping list? Let’s look at how you can give the best gift ever with ingredients you probably keep stocked in your kitchen. All you need to do is think about those amazing jarred recipes which are quickly topping food and beverage industry trends for the holidays and you’ll be inspired to create your own! Each jarred mix is creatively labeled to complement the packaging, and believe it or not, you can do this from home as well. Maybe even better!
Walnut Double Fudge Red Velvet Brownie Mix
While you will be cheating on this one, it pays to keep a box of double fudge brownie and red velvet brownie mix on hand. Start with a layer of the double fudge mix and place it in your favorite kind of canning jar. Next, add a layer of the red velvet mix. Although it won’t be bright red, it will have a hint of red color that makes for distinct layers. Next, add a layer of chopped walnuts and finally, the secret ingredient.
The Secret Ingredient Revealed
At this point you may be wondering how to provide the eggs and oil. That’s easy too! Did you know that you can buy a can of powdered eggs online? Amazon sells this product as do other gourmet and baking sites online. The powdered eggs can be used in baking and stored for an extended period of time in your refrigerator, or another cool, dark place. Read the manufacturer’s label. This would look like snow on top and the proverbial icing on the cake.
Those Little Extras That Make a Difference
If you want to provide the cooking oil, any craft store carries little decorative bottles with lids in which you can place the required amount of oil. Tie this with a ribbon on top of the jar and print out a label with instructions. The only ingredient you won’t need to package is water, and what home doesn’t have running water these days? You can use this technique with almost indefinite recipes such as almost any baked good, and don’t forget soups. Even broccoli cheddar soup can be jarred because you can use powdered cheese and dehydrated broccoli.

It’s simply amazing what you can do with a bit of creativity and a few ingredients you have on hand. There, you’re done and what a lovely gift which you can store almost indefinitely – at least until the next time you’ve missed shopping for someone!
