Guest Curator: Nancy Singleton Hachisu

Nancy Singleton Hachisu moved from California to Japan in 1988 with the intention of staying for a year, learning Japanese, then returning to the United States. Instead, she fell in love with a farmer, the culture, and the food; made an 80-year-old traditional farmhouse on an organic farm her home; and published Japanese Farm Food, a stunning look at rustic Japanese cooking. To celebrate the launch of her second book, Preserving the Japanese Way, Nancy has selected tools and ingredients that are essential to Japanese preserving and cooking—as well as other items she just really adores.
