Meet the Maker
Big Spoon Roasters
Durham, NC
Mark Overbay had his first lesson in handcrafting nut butter while living in rural Zimbabwe
as a Peace Corps volunteer -- and try as he might when he returned home, he couldn't replicate the flavor with anything store bought. After an extensive professional life promoting nutrition and a sustainable food system, he took matters into his own hands and used his roasting experience to make peanut and almond butters. Soon, his wife Megan joined him in the kitchen to whip up nutrition bars and baked goods. The result? A fruitful company that believes food should be delicious, nutritious, and good for all those involved in producing it.
