Not Like Any Ethiopian I've Had...but Good.
That's not to say it's not good. It's still a good cup of coffee. We reviewed this coffee for a podcast EP and we use a pour over to prepare the coffee for each episode.
Right out of the bag is smells great. The roast looks good, but the flavor profile doesn't fit any Ethiopian I've ever had. The tasting notes talk about floral notes, but they just weren't there. Leaning toward a nuttier-earthy taste I woulda guessed this was from a South American region instead of Ethiopia. Once it cools a bit there's a short sweetness to it. Not overpowering but it's there.
Doing some further investigation this coffee was no longer offered on the Sightglass website so we couldn't figure out of this was a older wholesale batch given to resellers. Sightglass does have other Ethiopian origin coffee on their site, but this wasn't available and it definitely wasn't available in a double bag offer.
Good cup of coffee and even better deal for this price.
