Mud Australia
Sydney, Australia
Wanna hear what we love about the dining and serving ware by Mud Australia? Every piece is dreamed up by Australian ceramicist and founder Shelley Simpson, and then hand-crafted in a Sydney studio using clay that’s been tinted throughout for a unique depth of color. (Fun fact: The clay is sourced from Limoges, France—aka, the world’s top producer of high-quality porcelain.) You’ll love how their pieces feel, too. Each one’s been lightly sanded on the outside for a natural matte finish, and then glazed on the inside for a subtle sheen. Oh, and those hues? We can’t stop staring.

THE perfect cup
I admit to going overboard sometimes on a quest for the perfect "form & function", but the search for the perfect coffee cup is worth the effort. This cup is absolutely the perfect cup. #1 The perfect size. Its big. It holds about 16 oz, which is great for a latte #2 Its both lightweight, but substantial enough to not feel too fragile. #3 In my opinion the handle is in perfect proportion to the cup, its an easy grasp, neither set too low, or too small for the cup #4 It has a fairly narrow rim. I don't know about anyone else, but very thick rims on coffee cups cause liquids to dribble. I love the way this rim feels both smooth and perfectly curved. This really is perfection.
Gorgeous pottery
These mugs are beautiful, functional and totally satisfying. I needed a mug that would hold a generous amount of coffee or tea and still be aesthetically pleasing. The porcelain is sturdy but not heavy. The glaze is slick on the inside and on the handle but pleasingly rough on the bowl of the mug.
Of course you have to have another, for the friend who joins you....Mine are citrus and bottle; two colors that are echoed throughout the kitchen. These are perfect.
