Worth its salt.

There’s sea salt, and then there’s this Icelandic sea salt. It comes straight from the Westfjords of Iceland—and that’s not all. It’s sustainably hand-harvested and produced with a zero-carbon footprint using geothermal energy, reviving a lost 18th-century salt-making tradition on the island. You’ll find this high-quality flake salt in some of the finest restaurants out there, not to mention home kitchens the world over. There’s a whole slew of tastes to try, too: licorice, seawood, birch smoked, arctic thyme...and oh yes, even lava.

and Easy-Breezy Returns

Pure Sea Salt is nothin’ but the good stuff—crunchy, mineral-fresh, and oh-so-flaky.

Lava Salt is flaky sea salt blended with activated charcoal. We highly recommend it on meat, seafood, or even fruit.

Arctic Thyme Salt has arctic thyme (from the gravel soils of Iceland) whirled in for a floral flavor that’ll cure meat, jazz up lamb, you name it.

Seaweed Salt has a whole medley of seaweed types inside, all taken from the shores of Iceland. Inspired by Japanese flavors, this seasoning salt adds umami to chicken, soup, or fresh fish.

Licorice Salt is a sweet-and-salty blend with raw Persian licorice root. (Go ahead— sprinkle it over oatmeal, popcorn, or chocolate desserts.)

Birch Smoked Salt is what you get when you take pure sea salt and dry it over birch smoke. Pair it with steamed vegetables or morning eggs for an instant schmancy breakfast.

The Set of 4 comes with the original Sea Salt, plus Lava, Birch Smoked, and Arctic Thyme.

Meet the Maker

SALTVERK

Reykjavík, Iceland
Icelanders once used geothermal energy back in the 18th century to make their own sea salt. And then? Production stopped just a few decades later. Saltverk revived the tradition in 2011 and—hold onto your hats—all of their salt is hand-harvested off of the Westfjords. It’s produced with 100% geothermal energy, too (yep...it’s as sustainable as it gets).
