Someone grab the focaccia.

We certainly wouldn’t mind getting this with a pretty bow around it. Let’s start with the EVOOs: Both are hand-harvested and cold-pressed in Greece—all by small farmers using generations-old techniques. Keros hails from ancient Athenoelia olive trees on Mount Taygetos, giving it a grassy, herby, and buttery taste. And Edafos? It’s from the island of Crete and has a fresh, fruity flavor. The oregano in the herb gift set comes from the mountains of Vordonia, so it’s savory and earthy with notes of lemon and black pepper. Then there’s the thyme from Crete, which is extra-aromatic with hints of clove and mint. Every taste-maker here shines on its own, of course (but we recommend trying them together with a hunk of focaccia).

Have we got pairing tips for ya…

Keros is rich and grassy—just the kind of thing you’ll want to drizzle over vegetables or braise with meat. (It’s certified organic, and we hear it’s great for baking too.)

Edafos is fresh, fruity, and citrusy, making it a shoo-in for salads, marinades...anything that could use a bit of brightness, really.

The Vordonia Oregano adds lemony, peppery flavor to olive oil, or pairs famously with vegetables, fish, and lamb.

The Crete Thyme has an earthy, pepper-like flavor. Let it spice up your olive oil, jazz up your marinades, or sprinkle it over stew.

WASHINGTON, DC
Normally you’d have to venture to the islands of Greece to snag some of the most flavorful herbs, olive oil, and honey around. Luckily, Ancient Foods brought ‘em here for you. They team up with small farmers whose families have been using the same techniques for generations. Our pick? The EVOO that gets its flavor from centuries-old olive trees.
