Hello, five-star flavor.
There’s a reason chefs and home cooks the world over wait all year for black summer truffles: Sliced or grated, they add subtle umami and mushroom notes to dishes of all kinds. (Eggs, risotto, pizza, pasta, burgers, steak...the sky’s the limit, really.) These tubers here are flown fresh from Umbria, a region in Italy that’s famous for its black truffles, and come via a family-run business that’s been sharing ‘em with the world since 1852. Our advice? You'd be wise to shave it over scrambled eggs or a simple risotto, and we'd certainly not stop you from putting it on a pizza (you might wanna snap up a one of our truffle slicers to help you get the job done!)
Summer truffles are known for their delicate aroma and have a subtler flavor than the ever-popular winter truffle. We recommend pairing yours with truffle oil if deeper umami is what you're after.
How to Care for your Truffles
Wrap truffles individually in a paper towel or put in a breathable container, and store at room temperature in a dark spot. They can be stored in an airtight container on the top shelf of your fridge for a slightly longer shelf-life. Change the paper towel daily if using. To clean use a clean soft-bristled brush. Do not rinse with water or soap.
Remember: Truffles do not like humidity!
Truffles are best enjoyed as fresh as possible, we recommend consuming fresh truffles within two to three days after receipt (up to a week if refrigerating). Do not freeze.
