The masala dabba, just in case you’re a newbie, is a traditional Indian spice box, meant to house the bold aromas and flavors used in everyday cooking. It often travels from generation to generation—and this one? It’ll surely do just that. Dreamed up by London-based industrial designer Andre Pereira and masterfully spun by Bangalore-based craftsman Venkatesh Chinnappa, it’s real brass with a food-safe stainless-steel interior. (That means it’ll get a lovely, warm patina with time.) It comes with 7 jars of spices inside: Kashmiri Chili, Pragati Turmeric, Aranya Black Pepper, Makhir Ginger, Nandini Coriander, Kandyan Cloves, & Baraka Green Cardamom. They all come from small, family-run farms in India and Sri Lanka, so you can expect full-on flavor here.

  • Kashmiri Chilli offers heat with fragrant notes of prune, pineapple, citrus, and soy sauce.
  • Pragati Turmeric has notes of marigold, orange, and honey (basically, sunshine).
  • Baraka Cardamom has notes of licorice, mint, pine, and pomelo.
  • Aranya Black Pepper doles out the spice with notes of fig, citrus, jam, and nutmeg.
  • Makhir Ginger gives off hints of treacle, lemongrass, warm bread, and Hachiya persimmon.
  • Kandyan Cloves have hints of pine, butterscotch, henna, and allspice.
  • Nandini Coriander lemony, nutty and floral like you've never had before
  • Made in: India.
