Right out of a history textbook.

Russel Wright gets credit for bringing modern design into American homes over the first half of the century, and his famous line of dishes sure had something to do with it. It just so happens to be the most widely sold American ceramic dinnerware in history. You’re looking at the matching serveware here: Just like the rest of the collection, these pieces have trademark curvy silhouettes and rounded corners that’ll dress up or down…whatever the occasion calls for, really. (Wright likened ‘em to a “little black dress.”) There’s a whole rainbow of colors to choose from here—oh, the chartreuse!—and you can bet we’ll be mixing and matching.

Meet the Maker

Bauer Pottery

Highland, CA
Decades of history are baked into these ceramic pieces from Bauer Pottery. Take their classic mid-century modern designs, for example—they’re Hollywood hot and California cool. An essential figure in their work was the famed industrial designer Russel Wright, who believed that the table was the center of the home (we’re inclined to agree). Wright was immensely influential in bringing modern design to American homes. Though the Bauer brand was shuttered in the 1960s, it was revived in 1998 and the iconic Russel Wright ceramics designs have been brought back to life. Today, it’s still the most widely sold American dinnerware ever in history.
