We know that Food52 is filled with creative, talented home cooks. But we've got our share of clever and funny wordsmiths too. Check out some choice quotes pulled from recipe headnotes submitted to Your Best Pears.

"This recipe is inspired by an image I saw on the Google and adapted from every caramel apple recipe
on earth."
-mrslarkin on Sea Salted Caramel Pears

"I call this pie "Ugly Pie." I mean, it's so ... brown. And monochromatically brown, at that."
- forester_lady on Pear Frangipane Pie

"They drop on the ground one at a time with a little thud, and roll down the stone path towards the house, practically knocking on the kitchen door. They can no longer be ignored."
- Ms. T on Pear Ginger Walnut Muffins

I recently made this very strange but delicious pie for my brother's birthday. He requested apple-berry. He's British so I forgive such odd requests."
-DUZE on A very odd (but delicious) pie)

"I started out this week with a bunch of pears and ideas for things I have never made before. I wrassled with recipes, FAILED 3 times in a row, and thought well HELL, who can cook with pears? It's impossible!! Then today as I was running errands and thinking dinner thoughts about beans and greens, and how cornbread would be good, the voice of reason finally chimed in and said HEY DIPSHIT! Cook what you know how
to cook!"
-aargersi on Southern Cornbread with Buttered Pears

"He's British, so I forgive such odd requests..."
Obviously he hasn't requested a bap yet. Or spotted dick.

Can you say "Dipshit" on this site? Leave it to aargersi...

Love the image of the little pears rolling to the door and knocking .... that should be part of a Pixar movie I think.

I have laughed every time I've read aargersi's headnote. It so perfectly imitates the ravings that take place (daily) in my own head - love this segment!
