Remember when we wrote to you about cooking for one, and how, in the most desperate times, it reveals man at his weirdest? That day, we brought you tips on how to avoid scrounging recklessly through the crisper drawer. Today, we bring you something even more foolproof: recipes.

The Kitchn provides a new take on cooking ahead for the week – much like Merrill’s plan, except decidedly more vegetarian: they start out with a big pot of rice instead of a whole chicken. Now that you have tips and recipes in your arsenal, we’re hoping you’ll be substantially prepared next time hunger strikes after a long, midweek day. As for me, I’m hoping my misguided meals have seen their last days.
