The Freedom of A Sandwich

To me, there's nothing more American than a sandwich. You have the freedom to put whatever you want in between two slices of bread — that's America! Serious Eats reminds us that it's National Sandwich Month, and to celebrate, provides a regional to national breakdown of America's most famous sandwiches.

We all know that you have to be fiercely loyal to your own, specific sandwich heritgae, and for me, this means the West Coast and its lunchtime offerings. I had no idea that dutch crunch is a bread exclusive to the Bay Area (a real shame!), and am a little perplexed as to why we only have three regional sandwiches. We know what Kenzi's favorite sandwich is (hint: it comes out of Maine) — what's yours?

My two (current) favorite foods start with the letter D: doughnuts, and dumplings. If a dish has bacon in it, I will most likely eat it. If I could marry honey butter, I would.
