If you're reader or user of Food52, you most likely already have a competitive cooking streak. Later this month, "cheftestants" will have a shot at eternal glory with the debut of The Food Experiments in New York's Hudson Valley, and its return to Brooklyn, NY.

This year, you'll have more chances to join The Food Experiments on their national tour of competitive cooking: in 2011, they held cook-offs in 5 U.S. cities, but this year, they've upped the ante to 16 cities around the country. Each cook-off will have its own theme: Hudson Valley's experiment is based on grilling, and Brooklyn's is based on curry. Anyone who is attending the events is encouraged to compete and show their best, most creative recipe inspired by the theme, and the winner will receive prizes from sponsors such as The Brooklyn Brewery and Le Creuset.

If you'd like to enter to compete, Hudson Valley's cook-off is October 14, and Brooklyn's is on the 21st. The final competition will be in Brooklyn on December 16.

My two (current) favorite foods start with the letter D: doughnuts, and dumplings. If a dish has bacon in it, I will most likely eat it. If I could marry honey butter, I would.
