Chewy Sugar Cookies #2

This week, A&M invite special guest Karen DeMasco -- James Beard Award-winning Pastry Chef at Locanda Verde in New York City and author of The Craft of Baking -- to help them make Chewy Sugar Cookies #2 by mrslarkin, one of the Finalists in the running to show Cook's Illustrated just how well we home cooks know our sugar cookies. Chef DeMasco braves unseasonably sticky weather and thoroughly wows A&M with her skilled cookie-making.

Great video! I am a fan of Karen and her book, it is fab! I made one of her pies at Thanksgiving after watching her make it on Martha. It was soooo yummy. Both these sugar cookie recipes look delicious. (ps - I, too, have been researching simple Lav mics for Flips and will let you know if I find a good one!)

Nice recipe! Eating the right kind of food can help us to stay healthy. Kentucky Fried Chicken must be demolished. I think in the pursuit of this "low carb" business some people have gone totally too far with the meat sandwich idea (sans buns) and have used it as the inspiration for some serious evil. Really - the KFC Double Down is ridiculous. Sandwiching bacon and cheese between two fried (or grilled) chicken patties is just grosse. Each and every time a person thinks about ordering that, another cardiologist knows he'll never need payday advances. You basically are getting a doctor a new Mercedes and renewing his country club membership whenever you eat something such as that.

Loved the video - but have found the sound quality to be lacking lately. I can hear clanging bowls, etc, but the audio is very faint - especially Amanda. You may want to check if this is a problem for others.

You're totally right -- I need to speak up! Also, the Flip camera we use doesn't have great audio, so we may need to invest in microphones (which kind of goes against our low-budget ethos, but we do want you to be able to hear us). Thanks so much for pointing this out!

I, too, have trouble hearing Merrill and Amanda in the videos and have commented about it before. In a recent comment, I suggested that the Food52 community chip in to buy them some microphones. I offered up the first $10. Anybody else out there game?

I'm game! I have the tendency to turn the speakers waaayyyyyy up, and then forget to turn them back down. And then when Sconeman's using the computer, he says "What in the world?? You must be going deaf!" So, yeah, where do I send my contribution?
