Indian-style meatballs with tomato-lemon-cilantro sauce
Author Notes: I#m just in a meatball-experimenting phase. My boyfriend is mad about the little guys, so I try to vary them with different flavours and styles. This weeks theme was Asian inspired: Meatballs with marsala, cumin and cilantro and an absolutely delicious, exotic fresh n fruity sauce with tomato, cilantro and lemon! - Anna from Chili and Sugar
Serves 3
Meatballs
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup cilantro leaves
- 1 1/2 teaspoon marsala
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 egg
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
TLC-Sauce (Tomato, Lemon, Cilantro)
- 15 cocktail tomatoes
- 1 clove garlic
- 2 chili
- 1 cup cilantro leaves
- 1/2 juice of a small lemon
- 1 1/2 tablespoon honey
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Meatballs: Mix all the ingredients together in a big bowl. Put in the fridge for ten minutes. Preheat the oven on 180 degree Celsius. Form little balls out of the mass and put them on a baking tray covered with baking paper. Put in the oven for about 20-25 minutes.
- Sauce: Peel the garlic and chop it extremely fine.Chop also the cilantro leaves and the chili (just like that, including the seeds!). Then wash the tomatoes and chop them as well. Put everything in a blender and blend well. There you go, your perfect meat sauce is ready to be served!
