Author Notes: A little avocado goes a long way in a smoothy, lending a pillowy, silky smooth texture that words can't really do justice to. Try it for yourself, and see if you don't get hooked!Gena Hamshaw

Serves 1

  • 1 banana, peeled and then frozen
  • 1/2 cup frozen (or fresh) mango
  • 1/2 small or medium avocado
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1 1/4 cups almond milk (soy, oat, rice, or hemp milk are also fine)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  1. Place all smoothie ingredients in your blender and blend till very smooth and creamy. Add a little more almond milk as needed, or a few ice cubes if you want it to be frostier!

I've been making the same smoothie forever and burnt the whole family out on it. This was a great alternative that's easy to make and full of healthy ingredients. Thanks for inspiring me to get out of my smoothie rut!

Drinking it for breakfast! Thanks for the smoothie!

I was wondering if instead of mango you could use unsweetened coconut milk?

over 1 year ago Debbie Erman

This was delicious. I am not a big banana fan (I think I burned out on them after years of that being my "breakfast"), so I put a beautiful, fresh mango in. It turned out wonderful, and I ate half of it early in the day and the other half later. I wasn't really all that hungry at dinner, so it's very filling and satisfying. My Vitamix turned those oats into such a silky beverage. THANK YOU!!!

Fantastic! Thanks for the recipe Meryl.

Can you please list the total carbs in this and is it for 4 or for 1 person?

over 1 year ago Gena Hamshaw

It's for one person, Meryl. I'm not sure about the carbs -- you'd have to use a food tracking app to get that!

Several things are listed twice, I am guessing this is an error?

over 1 year ago Gena Hamshaw

Yes, error. So sorry! It's fixed.

You have 1/2 avocado twice, does this mean use a whole or is this a mistake?

over 1 year ago Gena Hamshaw

It's a mistake -- fixed now!

Does it serve 4 or does it serve 1?

over 1 year ago Gena Hamshaw

It serves 1, Nexu -- sorry for any confusion.
