Author Notes: Once a month my "gentleman" friends and I get together to discuss current events, read poetry/stories and most importantly sample a variety of whiskies. It was a hot June night for our "poetry" get together and I wasn't quite in the mood to drink straight whiskey. With some fun experimentation I came up with this little beauty.
Did some research and haven't found anything quite like it so for now I'll call it an original. Aptly named - The Poet - Adam Gazzola
Makes 1 drink
- 2 ounces Sazerac Rye Whiskey
- 1/4 ounce simple syrup or organic honey
- 1 teaspoon whole fresh ginger peeled
- 1 lemon wedge
- 2 sprigs mint
- splashes soda water
- Muddle the ginger, lemon wedge and one sprig of mint in the simple syrup. Add ice, whiskey and soda then mix well. Add the second sprig of mint as a garnish if you are feeling fancy, most "gentlemen" skip the second sprig, then sip and prepare to amazed!
