Author Notes

Mole sauce makes anything happier - even cookies. The hint of coffee, the depth of ancho, the heat of habanero and two different chocolates make this cookie something special. If I make them for myself, I add more heat. Most spices can be bought in tiny amounts at health food stores so it doesn't break your bank. —Cade

Before I would ever try this recipe, and I'd really like to, I'd need to know what "small" and "large" bags of this and that are equal to. In my grocery store, chocolate chips come in one sized bags only, almonds come in perhaps 3 or 4 different sizes. Can you give the weights or cup measurements for these ingredients>

Jorge, you might try upping them. I too have this problem because I like spice. I tend to under-spice these if serving them to guests, but for myself, I would do as you do and perhaps double the amounts.

Tried this recipe this weekend and found the spices to be pretty much non-existant. The cookies were delicious, so it's possible the spices helped bring out the chocolate flavor. I need to try them again with double the amount of spices.

I also ommited the milk chocolate chips since I didn't have them, but I don't think this would have made the cookies more Mole-like.

Yes, it's the standard toll house cookie, with spices basically. Just a nicely formed tablespoon, or if you like bigger tollhouses, you can roll into larger balls. Glad you liked it!

This sounds wonderful!! Is it a drop cookie and if so how big should the spoonfuls be?
