Today I came across an old drink recipe that I had scribbled in a notebook. Naturally I wanted to recreate it to see if I had any idea what I was talking about. Unfortunately, I was out of one crucial ingredient and had nothing I could readily substitute for it. But I was inspired by the basic pisco-and-fruit idea to strike out in another direction. Nobody would mistake this for a margarita but it has the same basic structure with some additions to deal with the fact that pisco tastes nothing like tequila.
The drink is powerful but it has a nice sweet-tart balance that I associate with a good margarita. —ProfPessimist

Ingredients

1.5 ounces
Pisco
-
1 ounce
Grand Marnier
-
.5 ounces
Creme de Cassis (blackberry liqueur)

.25 ounces
green Chartreuse

half
Lime
Directions

Fill a shaker with ice.

Measure the pisco, Grand Marnier and blackberry liqueur into the shaker.

Add the Chartreuse as you would a bitters - a few big drops is really all you need.

Cut the lime into quarters. Squeeze one quarter into the mixer. Cut a slit in the other.

Shake for 15 seconds and pour into a martini glass. Garnish with the lime wedge.

Variations: Instead of blackberry liqueur, you could use some other fruit spirit like Poire Williams.
