Perfect Chocolate Cake & Cream Cheese Frosting

A moist and delicious "melt in your mouth" chocolate cake recipe that is a perfect for every party! An absolute crowd pleaser. Topped off with homemade cream cheese frosting. —Dash of Amy

Ingredients
  • Chocolate Cake
  • 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 cups organic sugar
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup Hershey's cocoa powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 2 tablespoons butter to grease the pan
  • Cream Cheese Frosting
  • 8 ounces softened cream cheese
  • 2 tablespoons softened butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons milk
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
Directions
  1. Chocolate Cake
  2. Mix the dry ingredients together in a large bowl, or the bowl of your stand mixer if using one until well incorporated.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients except the boiling water and butter, and mix well using a stand mixer, or an electric beater and blend until smooth.
  4. Add the boiling water and mix on a low setting at first, then increase the speed until well mixed.
  5. Grease a bundt pan with butter, and a light spray of cooking spray, and pour the batter in.
  6. Bake at 350* for 35 minutes.
  1. Cream Cheese Frosting
  2. Beat the cream cheese by itself first using a mixer.
  3. Add the remaining frosting ingredients, and blend until smooth and creamy.
  4. Once the cake cools, transfer it to a serving platter, and generously coat it with the frosting.

I don’t often comment or rate recipes, but this is a fantastic one. Moist and decadent. I added a bit of black cocoa and made this with a homemade keto flour substitute and it came out amazing! I usually do a lot of vetting of a recipe before selecting one, and when I saw the cocoa powder to flour ratio and had a hunch it would be a winner.
