We make meatballs from mince meat of beef cooked in tomato sauce, like this:
1)FOR MINCE MEAT
-We use round 1/2 kgs of mince meat by putting it in a big deep ball, and we add, grated slices of garlic, wet bread, 1/3 of cup of fresh milk, kiminon, three big spoonful of olive oil, 1/3 of small spoonful salt and 1/4 of small spoonful pepper. Also, (optional) we can put 1/3 big glass beer.
-We mix all these ingredients, with clean hands so that they are all absorbed by mince meat, and the mass does not get sticky.
We then make small balls with hand, by putting them in a fan of iron.
-We prepare tomato sauce, by puttting 3-5 fresh tomatoes in a casserole, add very few olive oil, salt and pepper, and 1/2 small spoonful sugar. -
When sauce is done, (we let sauce boil for round 10-15 min, we put it in the iron fan along with meatballs, and then if we want we add some raw potatoes cut in cubes.
We bake all this in the oven, in the previous mentioned deep plate pyrex, (from glass), for round 1 hour at 170 C or round 45 min at 200 C. -Food is ready, to share with family or friends, with cold beer if we want. —Aikaterini Katapodi
