Author Notes

You already have all the ingredients in your house for this. It will look strange [like lumpy curdled milk] when you're ready to put it in the oven, but you're just going to have to trust her.. It's a sweet treat that you can't stop eating. —Lucy K

Ingredients
  • 4 Large Eggs Separated
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 3/4 cup White sugar
  • 1/2 cup Melted butter [1 stick]
  • 3/4 cup All purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons Powdered sugar for dusting [optional]
Directions
  1. Preheat your oven to 325 Grease an 8x8 baking dish
  2. Whip the egg whites until stiff, then set aside Combine the yolks and sugar until light. Stir in the butter and vanilla. Once blended thoroughly add the flour slowly and combine until fully incorporated. Slowly add the milk to the mixture.
  3. *Fold in the egg whites-do not stir!
  4. Everyones oven heats differently-it will look like chunky soup when going in, but coming out it may be a little jiggly in the middle. This cake is a cross between flan and a creme brulee texture wise. Make sure it's fully cooled before you cut into it [good luck with that I can never wait].
