Author Notes

This classic tequila sunrise recipe uses quality ingredients for a quality result: silver tequila, smoky mezcal, freshly squeezed orange juice, and a bar spoon of grenadine.

For added kick, Ruston recommends that you make an infusion of jalapeño or any other pepper of your choosing with the tequila and mezcal. This just means putting a couple jalapeños (or any other pepper), halved, into the bottles of tequila and mezcal, and letting them infuse for anywhere between 30 minutes and a couple days. Strain before using to get out any seeds that might have hung around. —Food52
