Test Kitchen Notes

We’re in the midst of a martini renaissance, which may or may not be tied to a yearning to return to the simpler, not-so-distant ‘90s era when the espresso martinis were flowing and Bagel Bites were the ideal late-night snack. If you’re ready to forgo this beloved ‘tini in favor of something fruity—or perhaps switch it up just for the night (because we get it, coffee + vodka = yes please)—then consider the pomegranate.

Not unlike the Lemon Drop Martini, the Pomegranate Martini leans on the acidity of its star fruit, plus an extra oomph from a squeeze of lime juice, to round out the crisp, clean taste of Ketel One Vodka and cut through the sweetness of the orange liqueur. Before you shake things up, pop your martini glass in the freezer to chill and remove only when you’re ready to add your cocktail.

This was a solid drink and I would make this again, just with different pomegranate juice. The juice I bought from a middle eastern food market was a less sweet juice than others I've had. In this drink, I would prefer a sweeter, more concentrated juice, but that's just me!
