Ingredients
-
2 cups
precooked corn flour
-
300 milliliters
hot water
-
2 tablespoons
melted butter
-
2 tablespoons
granulated sugar
-
1 teaspoon
salt
-
1 1/2 cups
processed semi-hard fresh cheese
-
180 grams
guava candy
Directions
-
Set aside the cheese and guava candy and mix all the ingredients in a bowl
-
Knead with your hands until the dough is consistent
-
Form a ball with the dough and press it with your fingers, if cracks form around it, it's because you need to add more water to the dough, the consistency of the dough should be soft and manageable with the hands
-
Form eight balls of dough and fill each one with one-eighth of the grated cheese, and one-eighth of the guava candy, then shape them flat, just like an English muffin
-
Deep fry your arepas for approximately 7 minutes, or you can also grill them on a greased grill for approximately 10 minutes per side over medium heat
-
Enjoy your hot corn arepas and accompany them with Colombian coffee
