Cabbage wishes you’d cut it a little slack. Sure, it may not be as trendy as some of its cruciferous siblings -- we’re looking at you, kale -- but it tries. It’s up for braising and for stuffing, for crisp salads and cozy soups. But however you dice (or slice or roll) it, there’s no better time to celebrate our favorite unsung hero than Saint Patrick’s Day. Inspired by the Emerald isle, we’re bringing you a classic corned beef and cabbage recipe, plus six fresh ways to use winter’s humblest veggie. Put on a green apron and throw back some whiskey -- this Saint Paddy’s Day, we’re headed for the cabbage patch.

Growing up in the Philippines we love cabbage with a lot of things. One of my faves is Beef Nilaga http://www.sarapliciouskitchen...

I am encouraged to see an Indian recipe here. There are actually links between the Indian and Irish experience as British colonies. When the British encountered the Hindus in South Asia , they felt that they had already been prepared for dealing with heathens by their experience with the Irish. Follow this link for my own take on Indian-style cabbage dishes: http://alandivack.blogspot...

Thanks for sharing your recipe, Alan! Being of South Indian descent myself, I grew up with cabbage dishes - and your take sounds simply delicious!

Cynthia is a trusted source on Bread/Baking.

I'm a late convert to the love of cabbage, but love it I do:

Looks like you have a cabbage habit, boulangere! That braised cabbage and noodle salad is quite tempting...

The Cabbage Salad looks great - and I'll easily have all the ingredients. I'm making Guinness Beef Stew and the Colcannon recipe provided by fiveandspice. Thanks for the ideas!
