Sticky rice is actually its own type of rice -- also called glutinous rice. Here's a pretty good explanation of how to cook it without the traditional (and high-maintenance) bamboo steamer basket: http://shesimmers.com/2012...

You need to buy sweet aka glutinous rice at an Asian market. If you don't have a steamer the microwave directions here work quite well: http://www.thaitable.com...
