We have a nut allergy in our family. What could I replace the hazelnuts with in the No Bake Triple Chocolate Brownies

Would pine nuts be too weird? Pine nuts are a seed, not a nut, so they should be safe...

Technically, almonds are not nuts. Could you use chopped almonds?

Almonds are absolutely tree nuts

Really all the nuts are doing is adding flavor and texture -- with that in mind, I'd suggest cocoa nibs. They are pure cocoa but will add both crunch and a bit of contrasting flavor.

I agree about the dried cherries. I may have been imprinted early on by those chocolate covered cherries that used to be popular, but cherries/chocolate are an unbeatable combination.

Hi Selena! Great to see you here at food52! How about some chopped chocolate in the same amount. Maybe white chocolate for contrast? Or some chopped dried cherries or raisins?

Selena, hi! I would suggest either just leaving them out (the brownies would be fine without them) or substituting a non tree nut seed, like popped amaranth, or crushed pepitas. Or you could add chopped dark chocolate or cacaco nibs for even more chocolatey goodness.
