A question about a recipe: My New Roots' Life-Changing Loaf of Bread

Recipe3

I have a question about the recipe "My New Roots' Life-Changing Loaf of Bread" from Genius Recipes. Maybe I'm missing something here. Are the nuts whole? How do you cut up the bread with whole hazelnuts in it? Do I grind or break up the nuts?

The nuts are indeed whole -- they'll soften and meld with the rest of the ingredients during the soak time, so they'll stay (mostly) intact when you slice.
