can i use small pieces of beef in slow cooker pot roast?

I am using a small slow cooker, on low, for 5 hours or so. the pieces are about 2" square or smaller, chuck or bottom round, grass fed from a local farm. they come frozen and i defrost them first. I am just using stock for the liquid.

You can. Think of it as a stew. I use my slow cooker for stews all the time. 5 hours may be too long though. I'd check at 3 hours and every hour after that.
