Billie's Gingerbread From Ruth Reichl, Delicious!

Has anyone made the recipe for Billie's Gingerbread from Ruth Reichl, Delicious?
Making it on Thursday night for a Friday night book club and wondering if the recipe has been tried by anyone. Here is the recipe if you have not read the book - http://bit.ly/1IdCpTS
But if you like food please read the book, loved it!

I've not made that one, but if you're looking for very tasty, similarly spiced and reliable recipe, try Pierre Herme pain d'epices (classic french gingerbread) available here:

Also, in two different notes, try Laurie Colwin Damp Gingerbread (which she adapted from Delia Smith) and which is on my mind since the May celebration here of Colwin's work.

and last, try any 3-gingerbread recipe (i.e., uses fresh, ground & crystallized). I make one from the New London Inn in New Hampshire, but can't find the exact one on the web.
