Also, if you spent an hour looking for a recipe, you should send a private message via email to [email protected] to let them know that. They are concerned to some extent about the user experience, so any information along those lines should be of interest to them. ;o)
Also, the limitations inherent in the search functionality on this site can be frustrating . . . so I have found it much easier, and more reliable, to use Google. Put in "food52" as the first search term and then every other word that you can think of that might be in the recipe, as well as "community pick" or "finalist" and anything else you think might help. Google never lets me down! ;o)
and if you like that one, here are two variations you may like:
1) Joan Nathan's, which includes pomegranate seeds, lovely for flavor and crunch when the fruit is in season
momentmag.com/exclusive/2009
also in her book, New American Cooking
2) Josef Centeno's version, which has more chillies and smoky flavor

You can search by ingredient and then find the sub-category of what type of dish it is. If it was a Community Pick, you can filter that, too. If you tell us what it was, maybe we can help you find it.
I already tried that and spent over an hour looking! It was a type of spread that had dates, I think walnuts and roasted peppers...it had an ethnic type of name...it had a heading that said something like " this will change your life" idk. Thanks
