The best chili I've ever had is the Silver Palate "Chili for a Crowd". You can google for the recipe if you don't have the cookbook. I've made this many times and taken it to many places over the years--people always want the recipe.

Is it an International Chili Society sanctioned cookoff?

I don't have a specific recipe, but I recommend looking for ones using yams and black beans, instead of the traditional potatoes. The yam and black bean combination, along with spicy chipotle, is really delicious.
