Dickens the Dog - sounds like a great treat!
I haven't made this type of dough in a bread machine, but others have and one even prefers it.

Thank you so much Nancy. I went ahead last night and used the dough cycle of my bread machine, and the dough came out beautifully - just like silk! I have to say that I use the dough machine more often than not these days because it does such a great job of kneading dough, truth be told much better than my trusty old Kitchen Aid mixer. When I first got the bread machine, I was so nervous about using it to make my non-bread-machine recipes, but I have found that I need not make any adjustments to t hem at all when using the machine vs. the Kitchen Aid dough hook.

I haven’t made it yet. I froze the buns overnight, and I am defrosting them as we speak, will fill them for brunch with friends at 1:00.

The filling and everything about these is just wonderful.. The combination of the soft moist bun with the light crispy crust, the filling, and the whipped cream is just luscious
