Converting a baked mac & cheese to a crockpot.

I have a wonderful baked mac & cheese recipe that includes a rue with onions. However, I am trying to make it for a potluck for work. How would you convert it for the crockpot? I want to avoid dryness. Can I mix it the night before and assemble the night before and set it to cook in the morning?

I would prepare it as you normally do and then transport it to work in the crock pot. Set it on warm for serving. I do the same with Thanksgiving mashed potatoes.
