A question about a recipe: Faulknerian Family Spice Cake, with Caramel Icing

You could divide the batter into 2 9-inch round cake pans. It will likely only take 30 to 40 minutes to bake, so you'll need to keep an eye on it. A silly question I have is why do you chose a recipe to make for which you don't have the correct equipment?
