My personal preference is yukon gold but russet are also excellent.

I love these mashed potatoes and they call for russets: http://www.food52.com/recipes...

Even if you don't use this recipe, Russets are a good choice for mashing.

Russets or yukon gold. The russets in the recipe Kristy refers to really do the job.
