We're all about collections over at Provisions -- and we don't want you to miss out on the fun.
Today: How to eat like a New Yorker, without ever braving a subway.
We’re involved in a pretty serious love affair with New York City, despite its humid summer heat and its endless crowds. What got us hooked is the vibrant food culture: cafés spilling over onto sidewalks, dimly-lit bars, hole-in-the-wall taco joints, and temples of haute cuisine all sharing the same island.
Choosing between all the up-and-coming food in New York -- like Better Off Spread's small-batch coconut lime cashew butter and pickled smoked okra from Rick's Picks Brooklyn -- is impossible. So we're not going to make you: In our latest Provisions collection, you can taste all of them.
We chose the most creative highlights from our New York makers -- like a sweet sesame halva spread studded with black caraway seeds and a limited edition rhubarb ginger achaar (a spicy Indian relish).
We wanted to celebrate living in a city brimming with food of every kind. This is a place where people like the founders of Liddabit Sweets abandon their desk jobs to start tiny candy companies that churn out beer and pretzel caramels -- and that's the sort of movement we like to support.
We're happily eating our way through the city all day every day, and now you get a taste too.
Tell us, what's your favorite New York food?

I like warm homemade bread slathered with fresh raw milk butter, ice cream in all seasons, the smell of garlic in olive oil, and sugar snap peas fresh off the vine.
