Many take cornbread very seriously (especially when it comes to sugar)—but despite strong feelings one way or another, I think there's enough room at the table for everyone. At the end of the day, we all love cornmeal; can't we just get along? No issue with sugar in corn bread. I a little sugar helps bring out the sweetness in corn. I also add a bit of vanilla to mine if it is a sweeter version!

My favorite recipe is actually sweet, from a Tasha Tudor cookbook. I've been making it for years. I don't mind the savory variety, but this recipe is my comfort food!

I hear you. I'm a sucker for sweet! Wondering what that gooey spoon bread would taste like with some brown sugar... and a scoop of ice cream.
