Just a word of warning!
DropStructures ripped me off for $45,816.
Yes, you read that correctly.
I signed a purchase contract for a custom unit with them back in November 2021. I paid the 50% deposit in the amount stated above. Despite their written reassurance that my custom unit was code compliant... turns out, it was not. I had to hire a law firm (at my own expense) specializing in Land Use/Zoning issues to confirm this as fact. Not only did they keep 100% of the money I paid anyway, they actually sold my custom unit to someone else and took their money too. It has been over a year and a half at this point and Ryan, the owner, has gone radio silent. He did offer me $14K (what a joke) back of the $45,816 I paid and acted like I should be grateful that he was even willing to give me that amount back... ya know, as if I was the one at fault. Of course, I haven't received a single penny back and no apology either.
Their business practice is nothing short of appalling and I certainly would not recommend this company even to my worst enemy.

Hi, I just want to say I love the idea of simplifying, a tiny carbon footprint, and the tinier price on a tiny house. Tiny houses are not for everyone but it is perfect for me :) I love these beautiful photos and am excited to look up these companies as I research where I want to buy my tiny house. Thanks for you help!

So this is a very small representation of tiny homes. Many companies have branched out into permanently placed tiny homes, instead of on wheels. Not many people really need to move their house on a regular basis.
My favorite builder at the moment is Movable Roots which is in Florida. They build custom as well as a small amount of predesigned floor plans. What I like about them, is that they tend to put the master on the first floor. I am on my feet all day at work, so having to climb up stairs to go to bed doesn’t sound appealing.
Recently they posted a video on Instagram about a permanent house that they were working on, which will be lodging at a horse retreat. It had a front and back porch, multiple bedrooms full sized kitchen and bath, and closet space in the master.

Is this click bait? The article said affordable homes you could get right now. 75,000-100,000+ I don’t consider as something I would drop on a tiny house when I could purchase a TYPICAL house for that.

Hi- our home was severely damaged in Hurricane Laura in Louisiana and we are hoping to put one of these in our backyard while we renovate. Time is of essence, so does anyone know which company may have the shortest delivery time?

Please let me know what you found out about delivery times and who has the quickest turnaround?

I like #15 & #16. I am 70 and don't get around well so I want something very small. Can I get it to go to Indiana? 317-495-1822

You will need to click on the ones you like to get to that builder's website and contact them directly. :)

Why don't we normalize buying and building quality 800-1200 sq ft homes again? It worked in the 20s and 30s and can work again. These tiny homes are glorified studio apartments that no one will really want to live in long term and come along with the difficulties of finding where to park them. I live in an 800 sq ft condo and find the space perfectly adequate. I just wish it were a house with a yard to itself :)

I wouldn’t say 800-1200 sq ft homes aren’t normalized. Just many of us don’t feel we want or need that much space… though not in an apartment setting. I need my own property with space between neighbours.
Not all tiny homes are towable. Many being built on foundations now. Change is needed as more affordable housing is needed, though most of these are overpriced imo. It’s not meant to be one or the other… just let people decide for themselves and not bureaucrats.

Minimalism, pfffst. Sorry, just not for everyone, especially me. Overrated, overpriced, inadequate living space. If you've never experienced cabin fever before you most likely will sometime after moving into one of these. Can't get behind things that are made too small. Shoes, shirt sleeve lengths, ties, jacket lengths, car seats, counter top height, chair seat height, basement ceilings too low.

Minimalism is an art form. Mini houses are ugly want to be motorhomes with wood siding. If you want to live in a tiny home just buy a small trailer that somebody may actually buy from you after your done surviving this punishing fad.

Nothing minimal about prices. Not doing anything for poor or homeless. These are getaway toys for wealthy folks who already own a full size house.
