If you’ve ever struggled with the exasperating chore of trying to neatly fold your fitted sheet, you’re in the right place. This simple method is a clever way to get it done, minus the frustration that usually comes with it.
In this guide, we asked interiors expert, Jorie Garcia, to walk us through the steps of folding a fitted sheet effortlessly. Scroll below to read her step-by-step tips or better yet—watch her video tutorial on Instagram.
Hold the sheet in front of you lengthwise with the elasticized corners facing up. The fitted sheet should be open towards you.
2. Reach Your Hands in the Corners
Place your hands into the two top corners, one in each hand like you’re putting on mittens.
3. Match the Corners
“Clap” your hands together by bringing the left corner to the right corner. The two corners should now match up and create a right angle.
4. Tuck In the Corners
Pop the left corner over the right corner and turn it right side out. This should create a pocket with one corner tucked inside the other. Ensure that the elasticized corners are nicely nested within each other. (If you’re having trouble visualizing any of these steps, watch the video.)
5. Repeat On the Other Corner
With your hands still in the corners, rotate the sheet by sliding your right hand (only) to the other bottom right corner. Repeat the tuck by bringing your hands together and nesting the corners inside each other. Your sheet should now be folded into the shape of a rectangle.
6. Fold the Sheet
Lay the sheet flat on a bed or a table. Fold the sheet in half lengthwise, and into thirds from the outside edges in—then admire your neatly folded sheet.
