Last Night's Dinner
Last Night's Dinner tells the story of what one couple—blogger Jennifer Hess and her cocktail-obsessed husband, Mike—ate for dinner. Hess (aka LastNightsDinner) contributes regularly to our weekly contests (and has snagged two wins for her Smoky Pork Burgers with Fennel and Red Cabbage Slaw and Beef Chopped Salad), but keeps her own blog virtually recipe free, saying: "My belief is that cooking is not a science—it’s a craft." Instead, she cooks from memory or to experiment or to tweak a favorite dish and encourages her readers to do the same—to be fearless and unafraid in the kitchen. She documents her work with photographs, beautifully stark images of the meals she’s thrown together, such as this perfect-looking plate of spaghetti and meatballs in a rich tomato sauce. Her writing is casual and smart, much like her food. If this is what letting go looks like, count us in.

Last Night's Dinner was the first food blog I read and I've been a fan ever since. Jennifer is one in a million and Mike's Dash of Bitters' blog is a great resource for fun cocktails. Three cheers to food52 for recognizing true talent!

Hurray! I have been hooked on Last Night's Dinner blog since a friend directed me its way about a year ago, and every Monday since I have looked forward to checking out what has been going on in Jen and Mike's kitchen, and the surrounding markets. I love the enthusiasm for food/farmers/cooking, the inviting stories, and lovely photographs (and it how I first learned about Food 52!)
