Halloween -- it's the time for fun-sized candy handouts, pumpkin everything, and marriage divination by kale??

The Smithsonian dug up some interesting Celtic traditions surrounding Halloween, originally practiced to celebrate the calendar's new year and fend off evil spirits. One of them was to dig up stalks of kale while blindfolded for hints at their future mates -- read on for more about the Celtic holiday.
